Depois que se separou de Jesse F. keeler (do duo MSTRKRFT), com ambos pondo fim ao Death From Above 1979, Sebastien Grainger tem seguido uma carreira incerta. Entre um merchandise e outro, um blog com dicas culinárias e participações especiais (ouça o hit Let’s make out, com o Does It Offend You, Yeah?, no myspace destes), há seu trabalho… solo?
Sebastien juntou-se aos Les Montaignes (The Mountains) e está pra lançar, agora no começo de 2008, o projeto Rhythm Method. Você ouve como soa esse trabalho pelo myspace ou direto pelo novo site do cara (onde você pode acompanhar a quantas anda esse lançamento). Navegando por aí, noto que os blogs se referem a ele em relação ao Jesse, como se uma comparação os aproximasse, agora, só pra ver quem se deu melhor após a separação. Bom, basta ouvir pra onde foi o trabalho de cada um pra se medir a distância em que se encontram, atualmente. Assim, fica mais fácil de entender o porquê do fim do DFA.
Eu escrevi pro cara pra saber mais a respeito de algumas coisas, se ele responder é claro que eu ponho aqui. Por enquanto, e até o lançamento de Rythm Method, ficamos de olho e vamos ouvindo o material que ele solta na rede, também assistindo ele aqui e aqui (assumindo a bateria, como antes).

INMWT - The Mountains is your band, right? So “Are there ways to come home?” and the myspace’s musics are your great new work RHYTHM METHOD… How started all this and what kind of work (music) you like to create? I’m supposing that you have big participation in the creation (composition, lyrics) of this musics and your work now has not likeness with DFA (past, past, right?)…
Sebastien - My new “band” is basically recordings that i am writing and producing myself…it’s an experiment to explore my own tastes and abilities. maybe in the future i will have a real band that writes and collaborates together, for now i am making this record. it is different from DFA because that was how i wrote with jesse, and how his style (hardcore music/dance music) influenced that i was doing. rhythm method is just what i get into when i feel funky.
INMWT - And, tell me, have you been pushed on, (”forced” by fans, ‘media’, or until by yourself), to produce some new stuff after DFA (and if this bother you)? How do you treat this expectancy?
Sebastien - no pressure. i just look to the future.
